As expected, Telugu Desam Party
President N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday rejected the resignation of
Rajya Sabha member Sujana Chowdary.
Sujana Chowdary, who abstained from the
FDI vote in Parliament had sent in his resignation letter to the TDP
chief, saying he had committed a mistake by staying away from the voting
and that he was ready to face any action.
Even on the same day when the MP sent
the letter to Naidu, the party leaders indicated that the resignation
would not be accepted as it would add fuel to the several rumours that
are already doing the rounds.
Sources said that If Naidu accepts
Sujana Chowdary's resignation, then the other two members T Devender
Goud and G Sudha Rani who also abstained from the vote on the same day,
would be forced to follow suit.
Naidu himself said it was not proper to
hand out stringent punishment for a minor mistake. However, his party
MLAs demanded stern action against them.
