Lets see what our inside story has to tell you on this: 
Cost – If you are looking forward to change your operator, you just need to pay only up to Rs. 19 as Porting charges (as per TRAI), however the exact fee shall be decided by the operators themselves. The porting charge is non-refundable even if you want to cancel your request for MNP, which is possible within 24 hours of the request. 
No Dues – There should be no bills pending with your existing operator if you want to migrate. 
Time – It shall take a maximum of 4 days for all telecom circles except the states of J&K, Assam and North East where it will take a maximum of 12 days. The number, during this process, shall be disconnected for a maximum time of 2 hours. 
Minimum usage – A porting request can be made only after 90 days from the date of activation of a connection, or after 90 days from the date of previous porting, in case of a ported number. 
Instant Reply – A UPC (Unique Porting Code) shall be sent to the mobile phone after a SMS is sent to 1900 (regular SMS tariff applies). 
MNP has been successfully implemented in Haryana & Karnataka Telecom circles, however the rest of India awaits the new bride with joy.</div>

Airtel launched its 3G mobile and data services in India earlier today starting off with Bangalore and Chennai. Following the formal announcement, everyone was looking forward to the 3G Tariff Plans from Airtel. Telecom Talk has posted the slides from Airtel 3G launch conference to give a fair idea of the 3G services tariffs. Unfortunately, there are no Unlimited 3G plans being offered by Airtel. 
As Airtel stated in the official statement, the 3G services plan would be broadly divided into Time-based and Flexi-shield plans. Let’s take a look at these plans below: 
Time-based Plans: 
Occasional Users - 
Rs. 10, Rs. 45 and Rs. 60 recharge coupons. 
Medium Users - 
Rs. 200, Rs. 450 and Rs. 750 recharge/plans with 30 day validity. 
Flexi-shield Plan: 
Usually meant for heavy users and most probably meant for Airtel Post-Paid mobile subscribers. With a rentalconnection speed drops to 128kbps of Rs. 650 per month, users get 1.25GB worth FREE data usage. on track, Aircel has set for 4G services too. The telecom major will commercially launch its 3G services in another 45 to 60 days depending on some government clearances, while test run for 4G is likely to start by the first quarter of the next financial year. It plans to start 4G operations commercially in eight circles</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> by December 2011 or January 2012. “We are planning to launch our 3G services across 13 circles where we have got the licences in another 40 to 60 days. Moreover, Aircel will be one of the first firms in the country to usher into the fourth generation era. We are planning to start 4G trials by the first or second quarter of the next financial year,” said Mallikarjuna Rao, chief technology officer of Aircel, on the sidelines of Intaglio 2011, an international school meet at IIM Calcutta on 
Thursday. Rao said the firm would come up with 4G facilities on all the eight circles allotted to it by December 2011 or January 2012. On the broadband wireless access auction — for access to 4G services — held last year, Aircel got Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, North- East, Jammu & Kashmir circles.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> While it will provide services for 3G is 13 circles — Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, Kerala, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh (East), West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa,Assam, North East and Jammu & Kashmir.
