Food Safety and Standards Act to come into force from Jan 2011

<b>An integrated food law 'Food Safety and Standards Act' (FSSA) will come  into force in January 2011 replacing the Prevention of Food Adulteration  Act, a senior official said in Hyderabad on Friday. "From January next onwards the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act which  is currently in force in the                 </b><br />
<div class="story_lft_wid"><b>country will be repealed and the 'Food Safety and  Standards Act' will come into being. The new law is a scientific law  which tries to promote food safety," Food Safety and Standards Authority  of India (FSSAI) chairman P I Suvratan said. </b><b>Addressing the 43rd Annual National Conference of Indian Dietetic  Association at the National Institution of Nutrition (NIN) here, he said  "The rules and regulations of the FSSA are ready and it has gone to the  Government of India for notification. By January, I think it will be  notified by the Government and once it is done each state will now have  to withdraw the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act," he said.</b><br />
<b>Suvratan said "not many countries have a comprehensive functional  food laws even now and India will be the first one to think about in  that direction and we are proceeding very cautiously."</b><br />
<b>"FSSA is having a scientific approach to development of food  standards and to regulate whole food supplements in the country.  Henceforth, we will be working with the manufacturers who will be  responsible to ensure food safety."</b><br />
<b>He further said international markets will seek details on the  components of Indian traditional foods and if clinical studies have been  conducted on such products to establish safety which we don't have any.</b><br />
<b>"Next year will be extremely critical for India to develop scientific  justification for traditional foods. It (traditional foods) may be  safe, but we have not established the safety in that. We have to  generate scientific evidence," Suvratan said.</b></div>

Ram  Gopal Varma, State Minister TG Venkatesh, SS Rajamouli, VV Vinayak,  Nagababu, C. Kalyan, ML Kumar Chowdary along with Mirapakay unit  attended this audio launch.</div><div><br />
</div><div>TG Venkatesh  unveiled the CD and gave the first unit to SS Rajamouli. Ram Gopal Varma  launched audio cassette and handed over the first unit to VV Vinayak.</div><div><br />
</div><div>This audio event turned hot with some heated speeches given by the guests and thus living up to the title Mirapakay.</div><div><br />
</div><div>Nagababu  blamed few directors that they are wasting lot of money by working for  number of days. He quoted Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar as an example and  said that the director has completed the film in just twenty seven days.  He said that few directors should take a leaf out of Ram Gopal Varma’s  book and make films within budget. He expressed his pain over producers’  money being wasted so much.</div><div><br />
</div><div>Nagababu said that  issues like piracy can’t be handled anymore as they have gone out of  control. He stated that the only way to make a successful film is by  cutting the cost of production. Or else any producer won’t sustain in  this industry, concluded Nagababu.</div><div><br />
</div><div>C. Kalyan  seconded Nagababu and showered praises on Rajamouli and Vinayak and said  that young directors should take them as inspiration in making quality  films within budget.</div><div><br />
</div><div>However, Kota Srinivasa  Rao has his own opinion regarding the growing costs. As always he has  thrown blame on the other language artists for the delay. He said that  if local artists were given chances cost of production won’t go out of  hands despite working for many days.</div><div><br />

Chikku Bukku director simply lifted story, screenplay  and scenes from Love Aaj Kal. Almost sixty to seventy percent of Chikku  Bukku is copied from LAK.</div><div><br />
</div><div>It is high time for  Pawan Kalyan film’s producer Ganesh Babu to take necessary action to  prevent Chikku Bukku from being dubbed into Telugu. As Pawan’s film is  slated for release in April, it is highly likely for Chikku Bukku to be  dubbed into Telugu prior to that.</div><div><br />
