Rajnikanth in Venkatesh’s Nagavalli!

This is a remake of  Kannada hit Aptha Rakshaka in which Vishnuvardhan played the lead role.  He did the same role in Aptha Rakshaka’s prequel Aptha Mitra too. The  latter was later remade into Telugu and Tamil as Chandramukhi.<br />

Therefore,  Nagavalli too should have been remade into Telugu and Tamil with  Rajnikanth in the lead. However, the super star wasn’t keen on doing the  film and then Venkatesh stepped into Nagavalli. Venkatesh, who is well  aware of Chandramukhi and Rajnikanth factor did mention Rajni’s name in  Nagavalli too.<br />

Venkatesh says there will be a reference of  Rajnikanth in Nagavalli. “There is a Rajini connection to `Nagavalli' in  the sense that people at that home say either Rajini or Venky has to  come to solve the problem. So I tell Rajini, thank you for giving me a  chance to investigate this case. We have treated it like this as if  Rajini's character is my guru,” Venkatesh revealed.<br />

“I am  conscious of the fact that comparisions will be made to `Chandramukhi'  and of course, Rajini. But don't look out for Rajinisms from Venkatesh. I  have done the role in my style,” he added.</span></b>

Kiran Kumar Reddy in MLA Colony, Road No 12, Banjara Hills  overnight. In a super-efficient exercise, as Kiran Kumar Reddy took the  reigns, the civic body ensured that the ride to the new CM’s house is  smooth. The usual reasons cited for the tardiness in repairing the  city’s roads — budget constraints, rainy days, inadequate work force —  seemed to serendipitously vanish, allowing engineers and contractors to  fix the road in just two nights. </b></div><div id="p-tag"><b>Officials have no qualms in admitting that the VIP tag  gets work done ASAP. “The approach roads to the CM’s house were part of  the overall road repair and re-carpeting works to be taken up in the  entire city. We only expedited the work because he is the Chief  Minister,” GHMC Chief Engineer Dhan Singh told this correspondent.</b></div><div id="p-tag"><b>Not surprisingly, the rest of the city will have to wait.  “It will take two months to fix all the bad roads in the city. We have  only 20 contractors and each of them has 15 to 20 work orders.  Re-carpeting of all roads cannot be taken up simultaneously because of  vehicular traffic issues, so they will take them up gradually,” the  Chief Engineer said. And the good news gets diluted even further: the  GHMC, in its infinite wisdom, has decided to use a band-aid approach and  re-carpet only damaged portions of the road and not the entire stretch  causing a patchwork effect. </b></div><div id="p-tag"><b>The GHMC has sanctioned Rs 60 crore for repair and  re-carpeting of just 180 km road stretches in the city. Of this, Rs 45  crores worth of work has already been awarded to contractors who claim  they have already started the re-carpeting in bits and pieces.</b></div></div>

A while back director Gunasekhar had complained  to the Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce that his title Katthi was  used for Kalyan Ram’s just released film, Kalyanram Katthi.</b></div><div id="p-tag"><b>He had registered the title in the name of producer  Danayya with the Film Chamber of Commerce and had initially refused to  give up the title when some producers had requested for the same,  contending that the title was best suited for a script that he had  prepared.</b></div><div id="p-tag"><b>When the Chamber of Commerce permitted Kalyan Ram to use  the title, the director dropped the issue as he didn’t want to make a  big deal of it. It may be noted that Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja was also  caught in a controversy when some producers had gone to court claiming  that they had registered the title first.</b></div><div id="p-tag"><b>The latest film in trouble is Nithyapelli Koduku, with the  tag line “Care of Jagadamba Centre.” The film’s director, Alahari, has  alleged that the Film Chamber of Commerce disrupted its release by not  giving a publicity clearance for the film. “When I first registered the  film title, they had approved it. A week later, they sent me a notice  that some people from Vizag were opposing the title,’’ the director  said. Apparently, the film’s title indirectly refers to the owner of  Jagadamba Theatre in Vizag who has reportedly married several women.  According to Alahari, though the Chamber of Commerce sent him a letter  approving the title months later, it didn’t give the publicity clearance  at the last minute. “We wanted to release the film on December 3. Now I  can’t go to the censor board without the clearance certificate,” he  complained.</b></div><div id="p-tag"><b>However, when contacted, Film Chamber of Commerce  secretary K.C. Sekhar Babu said otherwise “We told them that the  Jagadamba theatre owners had requested that the title be changed, but we  didn’t refuse to give the publicity clearance certificate. If he wanted  to release the film earlier, he should have gone to the censor board.  The censor board does not insist on a clearance certificate first,”  Sekhar Babu observed, adding, “However, while obtaining the censor  certificate, they must produce the publicity certificate,’’ he  maintained. Asked whether the chamber would give the certificate, he  maintained that the executive committee was the decision making body and  it would take a decision. However, it is rumoured that the director is  unnecessarily creating controversy to gain publicity. </b></div><b>Meanwhile, Alahari has vowed to stage a protest if the film was not given the publicity clearance within a week</b>

<b>Telugu Association of Minnesota (TEAM) has organized Ghantasala  Aradhanotsavalu on November 26, at Oak Grove Middle school in  Bloomington. It was a musical feast for Telugu community in Twin cities  of Saint Paul and Minneapolis during Thanksgiving holiday.  TEAM &  TANA organized the event to benefit the poor and handicapped children in  India through Vegesna foundation.</b><br />
<b>The musical night (Ghantasala Sangeeta vibhavari) started with Venkat  Kothur, MC (Master of Ceremonies) for the evening, introducing Vegesna  foundation and the visiting artists/singers to the audience. A brief  explanation about charitable activities of Vegesna foundation, helping  the poor and disabled in India, was presented to set the stage for the  evening. The celebrity singers of the evening Sri Bala Kameshwar Rao  Tata, who is known as ‘Apara Ghantasala’ and Smt Surekha Diwakarla,  known as ‘Gana Kolkila’ were invited on to the stage describing their  accomplishments in the field of music and singing.</b><br />
<b>The concert began with traditional ganapati stotram by Bala kameshwar  Rao resembling the melodious voice of Ghantasala. It was an excellent  precursor for the memorable night to follow. ‘Ganakokila’ Surekha took  every one to a smoothening ride of melody with a song “Kanulu musina  neevaye” from classic movie Gundammakatha. Shesha shailavasa Sri  Venkatesha, Chitapata chinkulu padutu vented, Repanti rupam kanti … like  classical songs of Ghantasala duets were thoroughly enjoyed by a packed  crowed.</b><br />
<b>At the half time, Vegesna foundation presented a video about their  charitable activities helping poor and disabled in India and it was very  informative and effective.  Dr. Vamsee Ramaraju founder of Vegesna  explained the condition of disabled children and the need for help from  NRIs. Sri. Chitten Raju Vanguri, of Vegesna encouraged the NRIs to help  the poor and disabled, while entertaining the audience with nice jokes  and announcing the spot donations.  The musical night continued for  about two hours with many old time melodies. The local talents, Sriram  Pidaparti, Santosh Nandagiri, and Kiran Govindu also sang few Ghnatasala  songs.</b><br />
<b>It was an exciting evening as the music lovers extended their  charitable hands and raised about $11,500 for Vegesna at the concert.</b><br />
<b>Sri Chitten Raju of Vegans expressed his gratitude for the help  extended by Shankar Bandy from TANA, Saladin Naidu, Venkat Kothur and  TEAM leader ship Vasanth Chaganti, Hari Pallempati, Surya Duggirala for  organizing the event in Minneapolis supporting a noble cause. The TEAM  executives and volunteers, Urmila Hejibu, SaiVinodh Thotakura, Raju  Dantuluri, Ramesh Akula, Nagi Reddy, Chimata Babu, and Chimata Haritha  have worked very hard to make this charitable event a success.</b><br />

All set for swearing-in of new Andhra cabinet

<b><span id="interior-depth"><span width="400">Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan  will administer oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers  including a deputy chief minister at Raj Bhavan at 10.13 a.m., the  auspicious time set by astrologers.<br />

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar  Reddy, who took oath last week, will assume office before the  swearing-in of his cabinet. According to officials, Reddy will enter his  chamber at the state secretariat at the auspicious time of 9.52 a.m.<br />
<br />
The  cabinet formation has assumed greater significance in view of the  resignation of Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy from the Congress party. Jagan also  quit as Member of Parliament nd his mother Vijayalaxmi as member of the  assembly to protest the alleged attempts of the Congress leadership to  divide their family.<br />
<br />
Jagan, son of former chief minister Y.S.  Rajasekhara Reddy, accused the party leadership of wooing his uncle Y.S.  Vivekananda Reddy with a ministerial post to create fissures in the  family.<br />
<br />
Vivekananda Reddy, who has decided not to leave the  Congress party, Tuesday said he had no information whether he would be  inducted into the <span style="color: rgb(237, 0, 140) ! important; font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400; position: static;"><span class="kLink" style="color: rgb(237, 0, 140) ! important; font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400; position: relative;">cabinet</span></span> or not.<br />

The chief minister is also reported to be still hopeful of Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) joining the <span style="color: rgb(237, 0, 140) ! important; font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400; position: static;"><span class="kLink" style="color: rgb(237, 0, 140) ! important; font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400; position: relative;">government</span></span>. The PRP Monday rejected the Congress' offer to join the cabinet but assured it of outside support if necessary.<br />

PRP has 18 legislators in the 294-member assembly and the Congress will be <span style="color: rgb(237, 0, 140) ! important; font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400; position: static;"><span class="kLink" style="color: rgb(237, 0, 140) ! important; font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400; position: relative;">banking</span></span> on it for the government's survival in case Jagan manages to pull out a substantial number of MLAS.<br />

At  least two ministers in the Rosaiah cabinet who openly supported Jagan  will not be inducted. Few others who were in the earlier cabinet were  also likely to be dropped.<br />

Dappan Koothu aka Tappan Guchi, a Tamil music and dance genre is popular  at weddings where youngsters dance to south Indian dance numbers.</b></div><div id="p-tag"><b>Engineer Ramanand S recently attended a south Indian pal’s  wedding and the function saw youngsters, both north and south Indians  do the kooth. “The DJ had a play list with awesome Dappan music. He  played catchy Telugu, Tamil and Kannada tracks.” A Kannada version of  Appadi Podu, Pettai Rap and Gopala from the Tamil film Kadhalan and the  Telugu song Manmadha Raja were some of the dance tracks that were  played. </b></div><div id="p-tag"><b>Ramanand says that north Indian youngsters at the function  liked the songs so much that they asked the DJ for the names of the  tracks and downloaded them! “Now, they play these songs loudly in the  car!” he laughs.</b></div><div id="p-tag"><b>Twenty-four-year-old Preethi S, loves grooving to kooth  music. “I love it when they play mass masala numbers, especially in  Tamil and Telugu! Ringa Ringa from Arya 2 and A Ante Amalapuram from  Arya are a rage. Tamil song Nakka Mukka and Kannada tracks like Jinke  Mari Na and Bin Laden Nam Maava are popular too,” says Preethi.</b></div><div id="p-tag"><b>When it comes to kooth dance, you don’t have to be  sophisticated and this is what student Shruthi N likes about the genre.  “You can move the way you want to.
