<br />
"While the parties have made good progress, Union Bank's changed  business priorities have led the bank to discontinue the program. Union  Bank and  Infosys  have parted on amicable terms, and Union Bank wishes Infosys all the  best in the US market," Infosys said in a statement today. <br />
<br />
However, the company did not disclose the contract value. Finacle is one  of the major core banking solution in the Indian and the Asian banking  domains, contributing nearly 5 per cent to Infosys' overall sales. <br />
<br />
Infosys and Union Bank of California have been working together on an  integrated banking platform for the last two years, the company said. <br />
<br />
Finacle has presence in 72 countries with over 148 clients and rolled out few new products including mobile banking solution. <br />
<br />
Finacle universal banking products are designed to address the core  banking, e-banking, Islamic banking, treasury, wealth management and CRM  requirements of retail, corporate and universal banks. </span></div>

The strike shut most shops, schools and offices in Srinagar and other  major towns of the scenic Muslim-majority area and came after protesters  on Friday torched a government vehicle and clashed with police. <br />
<br />
The 25-year-old married woman from the southern district of Kulgam  alleged she was abducted and raped by two armymen on Tuesday. <br />
<br />
Kashmiri separatists who called the one-day strike demanded an independent probe by human rights groups or the  <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/United-Nations">United Nations</a>. <br />
<br />
"It (the alleged rape) has once again exposed the real face of forces  and substantiated that they are using rape as weapon of war here," said  hardline separatist Syed Ali Geelani. <br />
<br />
The Army said on Friday it was taking the allegations seriously. <br />
<br />
"If there is any truth to the allegations, then it is a criminal act  and strict action must be taken," Kashmir valley army chief SA Hasnain  told reporters in Srinagar, Kashmir's main city. <br />
<br />
But Hasnain  also noted that "terrorists also wear military uniforms" in Kashmir,  adding he did not rule out the possibility that rebels disguised as  soldiers could have staged the attack to stir public anger against the  army. <br />
<br />
In a new twist, the  <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Press-Trust-of-India">Press Trust of India</a>  said on Saturday that the husband and mother-in-law of the alleged rape  victim had told police she was mentally ill and was at home all  Tuesday, the day she claimed to have been sexually abused. <br />
<br />
There was no immediate comment from the police on the news agency report. <br />
<br />
The region was hit by massive protests in 2009 over the alleged murder  and rape of two women in Shopian district, next to Kulgam. Federal  investigators later said the two had drowned in a stream and were never  raped. <br />
<br />
Wary of new unrest, police have set up a special team to  investigate the latest incident while the Army has also launched its  own probe. <br />
<br />
The protests were the first major demonstrations  this summer and raised concerns that the region might see a return to  the street violence which has rocked the state over the last three  years, leaving scores dead. <br />
<br />
A police statement said there were no "marks of violence or resistance" on the alleged rape victim's body. <br />
<br />
State chief minister  <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Omar-Abdullah">Omar Abdullah</a> said a identity parade of soldiers would be held, adding that the "guilty won't be spared". </span></b></div>

A resident of Shivam Enclave in Shahdara  South passed away at the Ganga Ram hospital on July 9. It was notified  to us on 23rd July, MCD's Health Committee Chairman V K Monga said. <br />

"People should be conscious of their surroundings and check mosquito  breeding. While cleaning their coolers, they should swipe the walls well  so that no egg stays back in the cooler and fertilises," Monga said. <br />
<br />
Surprisingly, the first case of dengue fever was reported on March 3,  after a doctor from AIIMS tested positive for the vector-borne disease  here. Last year the first dengue case was reported in June which  continued till mid-December. <br />
<br />
Till June 23, a total of five people were already affected by Dengue fever. <br />
<br />
Last year, a total of 6,229 dengue cases had been reported from the  city out of which eight patients had died. Eight fresh cases of dengue  were reported in the national capital in December 2010 despite the onset  of winter, leaving medical experts and health officials worried as  mosquito breeding normally subsides by mid-November. </span></b></div>

Three years later, history repeats itself.  This time, however it wasn't his girlfriend's birthday, nor did he fight  with his close friend. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: 10pt;">  On Thursday night, at Maanyata Dutt's birthday bash, the Dabangg man had  yet another fight. This time however, it wasn't with any other Khan but  filmmaker Bunty Walia. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 10pt;"> <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Sanjay-Dutt">Sanjay Dutt</a>  threw a lavish birthday party for his wife Maanyata and invited all his  close friends home, which needless to say, included both Salman and  Bunty. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: 10pt;"> According to  sources from the party, Salman, who walked in well past midnight, went  straight to Bunty and started arguing with him. Within no time, the  fight became ugly. Before it could come to fisticuffs, Dutt's business  manager and close friend  <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Dharam-Oberoi">Dharam Oberoi</a> intervened and took Walia away. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 10pt;">  A source told Mumbai Mirror, "Sanju held the party to bring in his wife  Maanyata's birthday. He had invited all his close friends including  Ameesha Patel, Neha Uberoi, Fardeen Khan,  <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Zayed-Khan">Zayed Khan</a>, Ashish Chowdhury and many others. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 10pt;"> Filmmakers  <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/David-Dhawan">David Dhawan</a>,  Indra Kumar and Rajkumar Santoshi were also present. Salman Khan walked  in to the party around 2 am, well past midnight. On reaching, he  greeted everyone and then bumped into Bunty Walia. Salman was already in  high spirits. On seeing Bunty, he started arguing with the filmmaker. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 10pt;">  After some time, the argument got so loud that despite the music  playing at the party, all people could hear were Salman and Bunty. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: 10pt;">  They started abusing each other. Had it not been for Dharam Oberoi's  intervention, who knows what would have happened. Dharam separated the  two and took Bunty away. Had he not intervened at the right time, the  fight would have become physical." </span><br />

<span style="font-size: 10pt;"> "Sanjay Dutt, the host of the party had incidentally, gone down at that time to drop  <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Fardeen-Khan">Fardeen Khan</a> and his wife to their car. He was nowhere to be seen when all this happened. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: 10pt;">  In fact, Walia was heard telling one of the guests, that since he did  not want to create a scene, he would rather leave. When Bunty was  leaving, he bumped into Sanju who was coming in after dropping Fardeen,"  added the source. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: 10pt;">  Needless to say, Sanju who is known as one of Salman Khan's closest  friends in the industry, did not take much time to realise that  something was wrong. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: 10pt;">  "Dutt chose to keep quiet about the incident. In fact, after that he  partied with Salman and the rest of the guests till the wee hours of the  morning," said the source. </span><br />

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><b><span id="advenueINTEXT" name="advenueINTEXT">NEW DELHI: A development  of luxury hotels next to New Delhi's revamped $3 billion international  airport has been hit by fears its close proximity to a runway makes it a  security risk, highlighting teething problems in India's huge push to  build infrastructure. <br />

<a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Delhi">Delhi</a>  Police have called for a security review at what has been dubbed  "Aerocity", a project run in partnership between the government and a  private consortium. <br />
<br />
The location of the 45-acre site just 200  metres from one of the runways at India's largest airport makes it a  potential launch pad for militant attacks, police said. <br />
<br />
Asia's  third-largest economy is pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into  revamping its creaky infrastructure with world-class projects, without  which it will struggle to maintain its status as one of the world's  fastest-growing economies. <br />
<br />
But such developments often stutter  under implementation with teething problems ranging from land  acquisition, erratic planning or throttling bureaucracy. Delhi airport  offers a snapshot of India's infrastructure highs and lows. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Delhi-International-Airport-Limited">Delhi International Airport Limited</a> (DIAL), which contains a consortium led by the Indian firm  <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/GMR-Infrastructure-Limited">GMR Infrastructure Limited</a>,  says it had received all necessary clearances beforehand to proceed  with developing the land. GMR also disputes that the development is a  security risk. <br />

"They are very close to the runway,"  <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Deepak-Mishra">Deepak Mishra</a>, Special Commissioner of Police (operations) at Delhi Police, said. <br />
<br />
"They claim that they have got all kinds of clearances regarding the  work," he said, adding "security vetting should have been done". <br />
<br />
Asked about the dangers of the closeness to the runway, Mishra said it  made the airport vulnerable to "any kind of sabotage. It may be some  terrorists, it may some anti-nationals, it may be some weird character".  <br />

But part of a new terminal's roof, also built by GMR, collapsed after  opening in 2009. The rail link, the first such in India, was delayed by  months because it had not been given the necessary security clearance. <br />

The underground line was meant to be ready for Delhi's  <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Commonwealth-Games">Commonwealth Games</a>  last October, an event that was mired in rows over corruption  allegations and huge project delays that put India's ability to deliver  on infrastructure under scrutiny. <br />

GMR was awarded the contract to develop and operate the airport in 2006, with an initial concession period of 30 years. <br />
<br />
Such contracts are typical of the government's drive to plug India's  huge infrastructure holes with a thriving private sector taking on a big  chunk of the financial burden. Real estate concessions are often given  to make a project more viable for private investors. The first hotel is  set to open next March. <br />
<br />
"Every clearance was taken," said  <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Arun-Bhagat">Arun Bhagat</a>,  a spokesman for GMR. Bhagat disputed the figure given by police as to  the proximity of the commercial development to the runway. Police have  given a figure of less than 200 metres, while Bhagat said it was "many  times that" but declined to give a precise figure. <br />
<br />
"You can say  it's in the vicinity of the airport but it's not bang there," he said.  "As far as we're concerned, we know that we've complied with everything  that was needed to be done." <br />
<br />
Delhi police says it has written to the DIAL developers and has also contacted the home ministry to step in. <br />

Mishra declined to give details on what could be done to beef up  security at the site, saying he did not wish to prejudge the outcome of a  review that would take place within weeks. He did, however, rule out  shifting the site elsewhere. </span></b></div>

There were imported shaving kits, perfumes, scents, toiletries,  shampoos, soaps and napkins. There were also expensive watches of  various international brands. What more, there were packets of putrefied  dry fruits also. "Sai Baba loved good  <a href="http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/perfumes">perfumes</a>  when he was alive. When he used to come out for darshans and give  discourses, he was always sporting perfumes of top international  brands," a close associate of Sai Baba in Yajur Mandir recalled. <br />

Contrary to rumours that his bed was made of gold and silver, it was  only a sophisticated and modern bed filled with air. "There was no gold  or silver. It was designed to move in any direction and basically meant  to give comfort for the spiritual guru," an insider said. <br />

The  revenue officials, who took part in the inventory sessions ever since  Yajur Mandir was opened first on June 2 after Baba's death on April 24,  said they had never seen such a massive number of gifts showered on a  living spiritual guru or god. "The gifts and valuables only indicate the  great devotion the devout had for Sai Baba," a senior official said.  Some 5,000 watches were found in the mandir. <br />

Sai Baba received  expensive gifts and valuables from devotees from across the country and  foreigners for their satisfaction but never bothered to use them. For  instance, two gold garlands -- each weighing 6-7 kg -- were found thrown  under a table by the officials during the recent inventory. "The packed  gold garlands were not even opened. They were just lying there," an  official who took part in the inventory told TOI. <br />
<br />
Except for  wearing his saffron robes (some times yellow and white robes also) and  perfumes, Sai Baba was never interested in jewellery. There were 40  pairs of saffron robes in his personal chambers. "A devotee donated 75  silver glasses each weighing 700 gm in a carton during his 75th birthday  fete. But the carton was never opened. We found it in one of the  rooms," the official said. <br />

Apart from thousands of gold rings,  more than 10,000 expensive silk saris and a huge number of dhotis along  with shirts of various brands were also found. "Several devotees had  presented them to Sai Baba out of affection," a family member recalled.  Interestingly, there were some boxes which contained ear-rings of guilt  gold. <br />

Sources said Sai Baba had never allowed even senior  members of the Sathya Sai Central trust and family members into the  first floor of Yajur Mandir where he resided since 2005. "Only his  personal caregiver Satyajit had the access to all the rooms in Yajur  Mandir," an insider said. </span></b></div>

He added that Sunita was sent to Chhattisgarh with Eklal Lohra for a  special training where Maoists had blown a police vehicle killing five  police men just to train her how to damage security forces. <br />

"She stated in the confession that she along with other girls was  sexually exploited several times. Sunita was once abort in a nursing  home near sadar hospital and Maoist leader Akshay had paid Rs 15,000 for  it and had also managed her rest in Rajasthan for a month. When a girl  wanted to return home leaving the squad she had shot her dead following  the orders of the Commander," Sharma said. </span></b></div>

Abhimanyu (Tanish) is the only son of Seetha Ratnam  (Roja), who completes his degree and goes for ICET coaching to the  nearby town. Nandini (Sobhana) is daughter of a village president Rama  Chandra Rao (Shiva Krishna). They both fall in love and both sides are  happy for them except Rao, who is unaware of this. One day Abhimanyu and  Rama Chandra Rao exchange words in a heated moment. That puts the  couple’s love in dilemma and how Abhi overcomes it is the remaining  story.<br />
<br />
<b>Analysis:</b><br />
Kodipunju is straight out of eighties  village backdrop films where the hero can blow away as many as dozen  goons with single punch. The setup, characters and the script is very  familiar and dated too. With an age old script on hands, the director  has to make it an interesting watch by incorporating engaging scenes and  entertaining dialogue.<br />
<br />
Sadly, the director’s vision too is stuck  in eighties and none of the scenes really make an impact. Scene after  scene follows without any particular flow! Poor direction damaged it  further. The interval scene looked forced and out of place. However, it  does raise some expectations of having something in the second half.<br />
<br />
Director  simply ignores the interval scene and laughs it off as a joke. This is  nothing but taking audience for granted. Firstly, casting Tanish in a  full blown mass character is the biggest error and the rest of the  damage is done by the director himself.<br />
<br />
<b>Performances:</b><br />
Tanish  is a complete miscast in this film. He doesn’t have the build, voice,  looks or anything to become a mass hero. Audience couldn’t help but  burst into laughter whenever he mouths heavy dialogues. He has failed as  an actor in romantic scenes too. That is not a good sign.<br />
<br />
Sobhana  is alright. Roja is fine. In fact she is the only saving grace in this  boring and torturous film. Siva Krishna is standard. Satya Prakash is  routine. MS Narayana comedy fails big time.<br />

Designed as a tribute to the pure, unadulterated  action films of the Bachchan era, where a larger-than-life hero battled a  mega-evil villain, with nothing but his principles and his bare fists,  Rohit Shetty's retro film leaves you goofy, grinning and clapping with  glee as the rivals indulge in in-your-face encounters, laced with  in-your-face action, peppered with in-your-face dialogues, brimming over  with in-your-face belligerence and brawn. Truly, Singham leaves nothing  to the imagination and makes a singular appeal to testosterone alone. <br />
<br />
But  there is a sense and a sensibility behind all the explosive action cuts  which include believe-it-or-not shots of Ajay Devgn single-handedly  felling an entire army of goons, time and again, but only after he has  dutifully given away his service revolver to his girl friend (Kajal  Aggarwal) who seems to be always there by his side for silent applause.  Apart from the high adrenalin physical encounters, there are umpteen  high drama chases, with cars flying helter skelter as Devgn displays his  Formula l skills. Kudos to action director Jai Singh for giving  contemporary cinema some of its most explosive and gut-spewing retro  thrills, albeit done with a modern finesse.<br />
<br />
Buttressing the  excellently choreographed action cuts are the well-etched  characterisations of both Ajay Devgn and Prakash Raj who emerge as one  of the most dramatic rival duos of contemporary cinema. The high point  of Singham is the fact that for the first time you have a hero and a  villain who seem to be perfectly matched in their powers and their  menace. More importantly, they seem to be hell bent on stealing the  thunder from the other, each time they meet, creating some of the most  bombastic encounters on screen. If Ajay Devgn's Singham exudes power by  largely underplaying the uptight cop, then Prakash Raj is absolutely  mesmerising as the blackguard-on-the-edge, Jayakant Shikre. From their  very first meeting in the distant thana of Shivgad to the final  encounter in the edge-of-the-seat climax, the duo relentlessly give you  high doses of pure masala entertainment. Please don't go looking for  experimental cinema and you're sure to have the time of your life  alternately cheering good against evil and evil against good. Both Devgn  and Prakash Raj are picture perfect in eyeball-grabbing performances.<br />
<br />
But  what strikes an instant chord in Singham is the cop's incessant battle  against corruption and his relentless efforts to put an end to the  politician-goonda rule. The aam aadmi's battle fatigue against the  corrupt Indian system seems to find a reflection in Singham and his  little army of honest men's mission against the unscrupulous high and  mighty. When an entire village rises in rebellion against the  all-powerful goonda, and later when an entire department unites to fight  the war against corruption, the viewer finds vindication for it's  umpteen morchas and candle-light vigils it has recently conducted  against the unprincipled and corrupt administrators. In that sense,  Singham isn't all retro stuff, since scam-tainted India finds a voice  and a vision in this mainstream kitsch.<br />
<br />
Add to this the  high-intensity dialogues (Farhaad-Sajid) and the racy screenplay (Yunus  Sajawal) of the film and you have Singham all set to scorch the big city  and mofussil India screens with its high drama. A word about the  romantic track between Devgn and Kajal Aggarwal: absolutely tepid. But  thank God, it's perfunctory to the main track.</span></span></b></i><br />

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Movie Review:</span> Zoya  Akhtar's Spain odyssey demands just one thing from you: that you slip  into adventure mode and then go with the flow.... Rest assured, you're  in for a merry ride, with loads of thrills, emotional banter, romance  and camaraderie between a host of characters who seem to be having as  much fun as you.<br />
<br />
There seems to be one small little snag however.  The first half of the film is low on drama and proceeds as a touristy  piece on Spain. You do get somewhat restless watching the three friends  check in and out of hotels, rent cars, play juvenile pranks and indulge  in traditional adventure sports like deep sea diving and sky diving. Of  course, there is a lot of friendly bantering too between the friends, asFarhan AkhtarFARHAN AKTHAR andHrithik Roshan  battle ghosts from the past. And yes, a dash of romance as Katrina  sashays into their life as the free-spirited waif with a wild side to  her winsome self.<br />
<br />
It's the second half of the film which emerges  as a scintillating insight into friendship, emotional growth and  bonding. All the three protagonists use the trip to exorcise ghosts from  the past and emerge as free, unburdened souls who are ready to face  life with renewed vigour. And the bull run at the end of the film  becomes a metaphor for the unburdening of repressed fears and unresolved  conflicts. But the beauty of the film lies in the fact that it handles  all this emotional funda in a poetic, lighthearted, breezy style which  brings a smile to your face.<br />
<br />
In terms of performances, it's hard  to pinpoint your favourite since all three pitch in stellar acts. If  Abhay is the anchor of the group, Farhan's funster role is full of beans  and Hrithik's metamorphosis from uptight, money-minded stock broker to  carefree vagabond is a class act. Katrina is her usual effervescent self  while Kalki is cute, despite being heralded with a `chudail alert'  (witch alert). Added embellishments are the pacy dialogues (Farhan  Akhtar), the magnificent poetry (Javed Akhtar) and the rich  cinematography (Carlos Catalan) which transforms Spain into vistas of  colour.<br />
<br />
Director Zoya Akhtar follows up Luck By Chance with  another sensitive and entertaining study of people, even as she gives  Bollywood it's first full blown contemporary road movie.</span></span></b></div>

She lived her life under the limelight for almost two decades before  bidding it adieu for a married life in the US, with Dr Sriram Nene.  While in  Delhi  to walk for the Couture Week, she told us that she doesn't miss either  life when she is living the other. "It's something I have gotten used  to, this coming in and going out. After the show-sha of this place, I  like going back to the peace and quiet of my family. Don't get me wrong –  I like both worlds. I enjoy being anonymous and I enjoy being  centre-stage too. When I go there, the mom takes over. But when I am  here, I am just the actress," said Madhuri. <br />
<br />
But in both the  worlds, Mads insists that she doesn't live even a bit of the other  character. "Nothing changes. Once I reach there, it's all about my  children and family. It's everyday. I become a complete mom. My kids  have to go to school at eight, so I have to wake up early. I don't have  time to think about anything else. <br />
<br />
The only thought is getting  the kids up on time, picking them from school at three, getting their  homework done and then having dinner. Then it's the same cycle again the  next day. Except the weekends, when it's different. On school days,  they don't want to wake up on time and on a holiday, they wake up at six  and say, 'Mom, I'm hungry!' <br />
<br />
Madhuri asserts that her family  life is really normal, but she does say that the neighbours sporadically  remind her that she is a known face back home. She says, "Yes, the  neighbours do ask me about my work. Sometimes I show them clippings if  they are interested. They see the clips on the internet too. And the  American guys are very kicked about it – that they know a celebrity. And  then there's a flurry of people who knock on the door or come and meet  me for a while." <br />
<br />
But it seems that Madhuri is getting ready to  come back to the greasepaint routine as there have been reports of  Vishal Bhardwaj approaching her for his next, "Dedh Ishqiya". While  Madhuri insists that nothing has been discussed with respect to the  project, she says that she is looking forward to acting again, but only  if her family is comfortable with the idea. She says, "I have done a  movie in the past too, but if I do that again, I have to make sure that  everyone in my family is comfortable and I have to manage that." <br />
<br />
Which also includes her hubby Dr Sriram Nene. But he has no objections  to her taking up any new projects, says the actress. At this point, she  gets a call from hubby and she chats with him in Marathi before telling  him that she will finish the interview soon and call him back. Talking  about him, she says, "He was here for 15 days during "Jhalak..." with  the kids because it was vacation time for them. He saw how it was shot.  And he's comfortable with the idea of me doing a movie. He's not the  serious kinds that people think he is. In fact, he's not very serious if  you get to know him. He jumps from cliffs, and does stuff like that. He  loves adventure. He is very different from the image we have of a  doctor. We are a team. We always think of ourselves as a team. We will  do whatever makes us happy. He says that if you want to work in movies,  it'll make me happy and if you don't want to, I am happy. We work as a  team like that." </span></b></div>

Jetking Infotrain will be positioned as an 'assemble it yourself' kit  which has been bundled with a 12-day course, an instruction guide book  with diagrams, as well as a compact disc with video tutorials, a top  company official said. <br />

"The idea is to make people understand  what goes into the making of a tablet, rather than making them mere  users. Being a computer hardware institute, we would like to train a  large number of people in this technology, as we see tablets replacing  laptops," Jetking Infotrain Ltd's Managing Director, Suresh Bharwani,  told reporters here. <br />
<br />
"We will be giving this kit to our  students to assemble a tablet. We also have plans to sell this kit  without our 12-day assembling course soon. Jetking's aim is to turn  laymen from non-technical backgrounds into engineers," he said. <br />
<br />
The company is also in the process of expanding in  Vietnam and  Thailand and the African continent. <br />
<br />
"We are already in the process of tying up with an university in  Vietnam. We are also planning to expand in Thailand and African  countries like Nigeria. We are also going to introduce this kit to  school students from eight standard onwards and college students from  September. We intend to sell at least 5,000 kits sourced from  China every month, through our 110 training centres all over  India. We have invested around Rs 40-lakh in this venture," he said. </span></div>

"We are inviting idea from masses on what people will like to control using  Nokia N8 smartphones," Ravi Kunwar , Director (Sales) for Nokia India's North Sales Unit, told PTI. <br />

Nokia is running roadshows in the country where it is demonstrating how a toy car can be controlled using an N8 phone. <br />
<br />
Kunwar mentioned that company is open for ideas on developing remote  control functions in N8 phones that can be used for controlling home  appliances or real-life vehicles. <br />
<br />
"After receiving all ideas  till August 8, we will start evaluating each concept and look in to  possibility of developing it. Till date, we have received over 5,000  ideas. Initially, we will select only the top three applications in  demand from the list," Kunwar said. <br />
<br />
Indian mobile application developer company Divum is working with Nokia on the project. <br />
<br />
"We are using a wi-fi based chipset in the device which is to be  controlled. The commands are send from the phone," Vaideeswaran  Sethuraman, CEO and founder, Divum Corporate Services, said. <br />
<br />
Kunwar added that using the remote control technology, an N8 use will be  able to control any device from anywhere in the world. <br />
<br />
"Only the device should be within (telecom) network," Kunwar said. <br />
<br />
He added that company will first launch the application on N8 phones,  but following success, it can be replicated on other Nokia smartphones. </span></div>

According to a new study, prolonged viewing of mobiles and 3D devices  often leads to visual discomfort, fatigue and even headaches because our  eyes have to focus on the small screen and simultaneously adjust to the  distance of the content. <br />
<br />
This phenomenon is called the vergence-accommodation conflict. <br />
<br />
"When watching stereo 3D displays, the eyes must focus -- that is,  accommodate -- to the distance of the screen because that's where the  light comes from. At the same time, the eyes must converge to the  distance of the stereo content, which may be in front of or behind the  screen," said author Martin S. Banks, professor of optometry and  vision science,  University of California, Berkeley. <br />

The researchers conducted a series of experiments on 24 adults and  observed the interaction between the viewing distance and the direction  of the conflict, examining whether placing the content in front of or  behind the screen affects viewer discomfort. <br />
<br />
The results  demonstrated that with devices like mobile phones and desktop displays  that are viewed at a short distance, stereo content placed in front of  the screen -- appearing closer to the viewer and into the space of  viewer's room -- was less comfortable than content placed behind the  screen. <br />
<br />
Conversely, when viewing at a longer distance such as a  movie theater screen, stereo content placed behind the screen  --appearing as though the viewer is looking through a window scene  behind the screen -- was less comfortable. <br />
<br />
"Discomfort  associated with viewing Stereo 3D is a major problem that may limit the  use of technology. We hope that our findings will inspire more research  in this area," said Banks. <br />

The  Vodafone group as a whole reported a growth of 3.5% in revenue at 11.65 billion pounds for the same period. <br />

For the financial year ended March 2011, the Indian unit had posted an  adjusted operating profit of 15 million pounds, the first time in its  four years of operations. In a statement, Vodafone said, as of June 30,  2011, its Indian arm had 26 million data customers, a year-on-year  increase of almost 200%. <br />
<br />
"The growth was driven by an increase  in sales of data-enabled handsets and the continued impact of successful  marketing campaigns run in conjunction with the sponsorship of key  sporting events," the company said. <br />
<br />
The UK based telco said its performance was still hit by the sluggish southern  Europe market. Europe service revenue declined 1.3%. <br />
<br />
On the Indian tax case, Vodafone said, "In respect of the Indian tax  authority alleging potential liability of Vodafone International for  failure to deduct Indian withholding taxes on the Hutchison transaction  in 2007, the Supreme Court of  India  is expected to hear its appeal on the issue of jurisdiction as well as  on the challenge to qualification, in the third calendar quarter of  2011." </b></div></div>

Cabinet approves BP buying stake in RIL's 21 blocks

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><b><span id="advenueINTEXT" name="advenueINTEXT">NEW DELHI: After nearly five months wait, the government on Friday cleared UK's  BP  Plc buying 30 per cent stake in most of Reliance Industries' oil and  gas blocks, including the showpiece KG-D6 gas fields, for USD 7.2  billion. <br />

The  Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), headed by Prime Minister  Manmohan Singh, on Friday approved BP buying staking in RIL's 21 blocks, sources said. <br />
<br />
The CCEA could not meet on its scheduled day on Thursday as the oil ministry had not circulated the agenda in time. <br />
<br />
RIL,  India's most valuable company, had on February 21 agreed to sell 30 per  cent stake in 23 out of its 29 oil and gas blocks to London-based BP  Plc for USD 7.2 billion, and may get an additional USD 1.8 billion if  the two explorers find more hydrocarbons. <br />
<br />
The CCEA approved sale of stake only 21 blocks as exploration status in the two remaining blocks was in dispute. <br />
<br />
BP will have to furnish a bank guarantee and performance guarantee as  has been prescribed under the production sharing contract. <br />
<br />
The  deal, that may increase to USD 20 billion with future performance  payments and investment, will give Reliance access to BP's expertise in  deep-water drilling and accelerate development and production at its  fields particularly the under-performing eastern offshore KG-D6. <br />
<br />
For BP, which has been struggling to battle back from the disastrous  Gulf of Mexico oil-spill disaster last year, the transaction is a chance  to enter a market where energy demand is growing at 5-8 per cent. <br />
<br />
Officials said Reliance had on February 25 applied for government nod  for the stake sale. New Exploration Licencing Policy, under which  Reliance had won the oil and gas blocks, allowed for sale or assignment  of participating interest (farm-out), which is routinely approved by the  oil ministry. <br />
<br />
But the ministry, even though competent to approve the deal, decided to refer it to the CCEA. </span></b></div>

The company intends to send out letters  communicating the revised salaries by September and give the increments  effective October 1, according to an e-mail sent to employees by Hari T,  chief people officer.          </span>          <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 10pt;">"We  have still some ground to cover on the operating efficiencies and our  business units are working overtime to ensure that we can reach industry  norms," the e-mail said. The company's decision has not gone down well  with employees. Mahindra Satyam's peers, Tata Consultancy Services,  Infosys and Wipro have already revised salaries.</span>          <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 10pt;">According  to the e-mailed letter, individual letters reflecting performance  ratings and promotions (where applicable) will be communicated to  employees on July 31. "We have walked together towards a destination  that we know would make us all feel very proud. While we had many  choices in front of us, we had collectively chosen to sign-up on one  overarching objective - to take Mahindra Satyam on the growth path once  again," the letter added.</span>          <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 10pt;">It  also pointed out that multiple initiatives were underway to get Satyam  back to its high performance trajectory and the interim time delay and  subsequent margin improvement plans will be to the benefit of the  associate, unit and the organisation in the long run.</span>          <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 10pt;">"One  possible reason they may be doing this is because they could be  expecting some upward revision in pricing from existing clients which  may off-set the impact of the wage hike. Had the hikes been given in the  current quarter, their margins would have taken a hit," said a Chennai  based IT analyst working with a domestic brokerage firm. He said the  wage hike could erode the company's margins by about 350 basis points.</span>          <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 10pt;">Employees,  however, were not pacified and some feared another round of lay-offs.  "We are afraid the company may lay off another 2,000 people. We cannot  even apply anywhere else as we are yet to receive the pay revision  letter," said an employee. "It is an effort to show good revenues and  high EBITDA margins. Once wage hikes are given the operating profit  margins may come down to about 7% from the present 13%. This will be  major problem for a company whose margins are considerably lower than  its peers. Besides our billing rates are lower than others in the  industry," added another.</span>          <br />

<span style="font-size: 10pt;">            After taking over scam hit            Satyam Computer Services             in April 2009, Tech Mahindra had taken up a major  restructuring. The staff strength of the company had come down from  44,000 people in FY09 to about 27,000 in FY10.          </span>          <br />
