The second half of the movie where the real crux lies, could have been constructed well.

Director Vinayak has not delivered his best with Nayak but has tried to balance the comedy with action to a large extent. The film's screenplay in the second half doesn't have zing and climax is tacky.

He has concentrated more on presentation resulting in a slick film with songs and action sequences. The film is pretty predictable with the second half kind of meandering unnecessarily.

Thaman's background score is elevates the tempo of the scenes and Chota K Naidy Cinematorgraphy is a big plus. 'Katti lanti Pilla' and 'Subhaleka Rsukunna' numbers were brilliantly shot

Story wise, Nayak offers nothing new. In fact, let alone the predictability factor, there is no extra effort taken by the makers to make it oomphier - say, through punchy dialogues and inventive action.

The racy first half of Nayak has all the elements of comedy, romance and action. The second half of the film is filled heavy dose of violence and action episodes.

Andhra new hub for Telangana students

HYDERABAD: They may be espousing the Telangana cause, but when it comes to the education of their wards, the champions of the separate state are not taking any chances.

Conceding that the political uncertainty and unrest in the Telangana region triggered by the latest phase of the agitation for statehood by various political parties and groups will disrupt the academic schedule in the Telangana region, scores of parents are sending their children to Krishna and Guntur districts for intermediate education and EAMCET coaching.

Principals of leading corporate residential colleges in Guntur and Vijayawada told TOI that there has been a 25% increase in the number of students from the Telangana region seeking admissions in their institutions. "More students from the Telangana region are seeking admission in our colleges. The trend is more visible in the engineering stream. Those students who are getting admission into engineering course in colleges in both the T region and Andhra region are opting for the latter as their first choice," said A Murali, principal of a junior college in Guntur belonging to the Sri Chaitanya Groups of Institutions.

A Ravi Prasad, principal of Narayana college in Vijayawada, also admitted that political uncertainty is contributing to the increasing migration of students from the Telangana region to institutions in the other two regions.

"Many local parents were surprised to learn that the admissions got filled up so fast, and in view of the heightened regional tensions, many families from the Telangana region who have secured admission for their children here have urged us not to publicize the fact that they are outsiders," according to a source.

Ironically, many parents from the Telangana region, who are sending their children to the other two regions for their studies are active participants of the separate state agitation.

Arrangements will be made for darshan after 6:00 pm today at the hall. About 4 lakh people are expected to come to Puttaparthi, a small town of 25,000 in Andhra Pradesh's Ananatpur district. This includes VVIPs, VIPs and common devotees from across the globe and India.

A pall of gloom descended on this town, 450 km from Hyderabad, as the news of Sai Baba's death spread. His family members, four ministers and government officials rushed to the hospital following reports that Sai Baba's condition had deteriorated further. (Read: Pall of gloom descends on Puttaparthi)

There has been a complete shutdown in the town since morning following reports about deterioration in the condition of Sai Baba.

For the first time since Baba was admitted to Sathya Sai Baba super speciality on March 27, the doctors did not issue a morning bulletin on Sunday.

Although everybody was preparing for the inevitable for the last few days, a decision had been taken by representatives of Baba's family and members of the Sathya Sai Central Trust to not pull the plug from the ventilator.

Devotees had been praying for a miracle and had kept their faith that the 86-year-old Baba would rise once again and give darshan to the faithful. (In Pics: Magic of Sai Baba)

The Central trust was headed by Sathya Sai Baba himself and had luminaries like PN Bhagwati, former chief justice of India, SV Giri, retired central vigilance commissioner as members amongst others. A nephew of Baba, Ratnakar was also part of the trust. The trust secretary, K Chakravarthi, who influenced by Baba resigned from the IAS to devote himself to the service of the godman, executed all the programmes of the organisation.

Since this is all powerful body, it has to be seen as to who becomes the new chairman. But indications are that nephew Ratnakar who otherwise runs a cable TV operation and a gas agency will play a more active role.

Satyajit, the personal caregiver of the Baba and a product of the university at Puttaparthi set up by the godman will also play a key role. It is believed that Satyajit, still in his early thirtees, has the support of most trust members and also that of Chakravarthi. A whole array of philanthropic activities including water supply is carried on by the trust.
