India’s major telecom operators- Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular have a huge number of active subscribers, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said. TRAI, for the first time, has segregated Indian telecom customers by usage.
The GSM mobile operators Airtel and Idea Cellular are found to have a large number of customers base, who are active users. Out of the total 687.71 million users in the country, about 483 million people are active users, TRAI said.
The country’s over tele-density is at 60 percent, while active users’ figure stands at 38 percent.
Though many people these days own two or more mobile connections due to low cost schemes, the additional connections are hardly used. And the TRAI has classified that people who use their mobile connections at least once in a month as active users.
