Hyderabad: Four private security guards appointed to guard a jewellery shop at the posh Banjara Hills here looted valuables worth Rs 15 lakh from the shop after threatening the staff with knives, police said on Friday.
The incident occurred last night when the guards of the jewellery store, all Nepali nationals, barged into the jewellery shop and attacked one of the staff while the shop was being closed, they said.
The guards collected gold ornaments, diamonds and cash from the shop before fleeing from the scene, a police officer supervising the investigations said adding, "They (the accused) also damaged the CCTV cameras inside the shop."
The jewellery shop owner in his complaint has said that the stolen property was worth Rs 15 lakh, the police officer said.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner A K Khan, who visited the shop has announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for passing on information that would help the police arrest the accused.

The Banjara Hills Police have registered a case under Section 392 (robbery) of IPC and under Arms Act. Further investigations were on. A hunt has been launched to nab the guards.
