The Auto Parirakshan Porata Committee consisting of 17 auto unions called a total ‘one day auto Bandh’ and ‘Chalo Transport Bhavan’ on October 11 in the Greater Hyderabad in protest against the government’s negligence in increasing the existing auto fares and stoppages of traffic, Weights and Measures and RTA officials harassments.

The committee held a protest meeting here today and asked the auto unions to participate in the proposed one-day auto bandh and ‘chalo Transport Bhavan’. Further, the meeting said to manipulate the digital meters the software has to be decoded. This is only possible for the different companies supplying the meters.The meeting alleged that Transport and weights and Measures department which had forcibly installed the digital meters, despite the auto union findings that these meters are not tamper proof, hand their part dishonestly.The other important demands of the auto drivers are cancellation of green tax, cacellation of class 8th pass condition for obtaining Transport driving licence to drive public service auto rickshaws, stern action against the vehicles carrying passengers illegaly including sharing autos, illegal school vans, a release from Auto Parirakshnan Porata Committee said here.
