The Andhra Pradesh state government will issue Aadhar cards to all citizens in seven districts, Hyderabad, Adilabad, Ranga Reddy, Srikakulam, East Godavari, Anantapur and Chittoor,s in the first phase by the first week of November.
The Aadhar card contains a 12-digit Unique Identification Number (UID), which will be linked to all demographic details and bank accounts. The identity card for all citizens is a major exercise initiated by the Central government.
Officials will collect 10 fingerprints, a photograph and an iris scan of citizens that will form the biometric data contained in the card.
