The government will hold public reception to honour the medal winners in Hyderabad after the Dasara festival. The rewards were announced after the sports minister, Mr Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, met the Chief Minister and briefed him on the performance of AP sportspersons in the Commonwealth Games.
Gagan Narang would be getting the biggest prize money since he won four gold medals in shooting events and literally became the star of the Games. The other gold medal winners are Saina Nehwal in badminton and Jwala Gutta and Aswini in shuttle badminton (doubles). Of special pride to the state is the gold medal won by Saina which helped India get the second position in the Games.
The silver medal winners include Ashar Noria (trap shooting), Sania Mirza (tennis), and Ch. Jignas and Tirual Chatterjee (archery). Satti Geetha (4x100 metres relay), Abdul Najeeb Khureshi (4x100 metres relay). V. Srinivas Rao (weightlifting) and Kashyap (badminton) are bronze medal winners from the state.
