AICC sources have indicated that the state coordination panel, headed by AP party affairs in-charge Mr Veerappa Moily, is going to be reconstituted soon and the Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is a member, is likely to be replaced.
Reshuffle of the eight-month-old party coordination committee, which is considered a mini Congress working committee at state level, appears imminent in view of the changes being proposed at the AICC, pointed out sources. The cancellation of the committee meeting scheduled for Friday also indicates the imminent reshuffle. The coordination panel has met only once, in March, since its constitution. Soon after Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy kick-started his Odarpu yatra in defiance of the Congress high command’s instructions and the party president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi’s advice.
It is an open secret that Mrs Gandhi has been advising party leaders from the state over the last couple of months “not to associate with Mr Jagan’s yatra anymore” and has indicated that taking part in the yatra would be viewed seriously. Against this background, the AICC will reconstitute the coordination body after the revamp at the top level by November.
“I don’t think Mr Jaganmohan Reddy will continue in the panel as the very appointments of the panel members will be done by Mrs Gandhi,’’ said a member of the panel. It does not make sense to continue with a defiant MP in a panel which was constituted to ensure not only coordination but also to address issues of indiscipline in the party, the source added.
