Fifteenth August is celebrated as Independence day of India. On this day in 1947, India achieved Independence from the British rule. The British had ruled India for nearly 150 years.
They had come as traders and became the rulers of our country due to our internal disunity. They plundered our country during this period. Our people suffered a lot in the hand of British rulers.
The Struggle for Independence started with a mutiny in 1857. The dreams of our great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and many others proved to be true on 15th August 1947.On that day India achieved Independence. Many of them sacrificed their lives for attaining freedom for our beloved India.
On 15th August, 1947 for the first time our Prime Minister, Pandit Nehru hoisted our National Flag on the Red Fort, since then, 15th August is celebrated as Independence day all over country with great zeal and enthusiasm
