Over a 100 stars were expected to gather at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, for the launch of Celebrity Cricket League Season 2 on December 18.
The mega event was the official launch of the CCL theme song and music video with a live performance by singer Shaan.
“The track is the brainchild of composer Gaurav Dasgupta,” says Shaan. “It’s a very edgy, rock-meets-club kind of number that works as an anthem as well as a dance track. The lead guitar really revs up the energy and, well, it’s called Phaad Denge Hum,” says Shaan, who has also sung the Deccan Chargers’ team anthem in the past.
“I’m a big cricket buff and I was hoping to play for Mumbai. Then I realised that even the biggest stars who don’t have free dates for years are tearing their hair out to be part of this,” he adds with a laugh.
Director Mani Shankar, who has shot the official music video, reveals the effort that went into its making. “We had five or six people working simultaneously on the final edit,” he says. “All the big stars feature in it, including Salman Khan and the team captains. The video has a larger than life feel and definitely, an element of glamour as well.”
Stars such as Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Suniel Shetty, Boney Kapoor, Sridevi, Priyadarshan, Venkatesh, Sudeep, Arya, Jeeva and a host of actresses, along with the six CCL teams had RSVP’d to the event. The show, hosted by Neha Dhupia and Sonu Nigam, included a ramp show with the stars in their team jerseys, the unveiling of the CCL 2012 calendar, and live performances by Shriya Saran, Lakshmi Rai, Raima Sen, Poonam Bajwa, and others.
The glamorous calendar features 18 top actresses from across the country. “It’s been shot in Goa and Mumbai, by Venkatraman, and features Sonakshi, Kangna, Genelia, Shriya Saran, Kajal Agarwal, Priyamani and others,” reveals CCL director Moorthy Srinivasulu.
