Satyameva Jayate taken from Mundaka Upanishad or MundakopanishadThe origin of the national motto of India is from a well known Hindu mantra from the Mundaka Upanishad.
The full mantra is as follows

Satyameva Jayate Naanritam
Satyena Pantha Vitato Devayanah
Yena Aakramanti Rshayo Hi Aaptkaamaa
Yatra Tat Satyasya Paramam Nidhaanam

The meaning of the mantra is as follows

Truth alone triumphs; not falsehood.
Through truth the divine path is spread out by which
The sages whose desires have been completely fulfilled,
Reach where that supreme treasure of Truth resides.
