Chandrababu Naidu reached Warangal district on Friday.
Tension prevailed in Tarnaka as students pelted stones at Mr Naidu’s convoy in the morning as he began his Rythu Poru Bata Padayatra. Around 50 Osm-ania University students gathered at the ground adjacent to Tarnaka ring road and pelted stones when Mr Naidu was passing. Others pelted stones from the Aradhana theatre side.
Police had to lob tear gas shells to quell the agitating students at the Tarnaka flyover. They said no one was hurt in the incident and no arrests were made. Mr Naidu’s entry into Warangal district was marked by violence, particularly at Narsempet, Nekkonda and Jangaon where local activists of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti and the Telangana Joint Action Committee clashed with local activists of the TD and pelted stones at buses carrying party supporters to Palaku-rthy, the culmination point of Mr Naidu’s yatra.
Never spoke against Telangana: Naidu
In his public address at the MPP Ground in Palakurthy, Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu said, “I have never spoken aga-inst Telangana statehood.” Mr Naidu said that the TD is the party of weaker sections of society and has always stood for development. “Our party will take up the fight on behalf of the farmers by joining hands with national level parties,” he said.
“I am with you always. I have come here to understand your problems and will fight till you get justice,” the former CM promised, even as the farmers poured out their woes. On Telangana, Mr Naidu said, that he was not against Telangana. “It is the responsibility of the Congress to take a decision on the statehood issue as it has the authority,” he said.
The Leader of Opposition spit fire at the TRS for trying to block his Warangal district tour that was meant to console farmers in distress. “We shall not be cowed down by petty protests by some mobs and shall fight for the farmers. If TRS has any shame, it too should support us in this regard,” Mr Naidu said. He also warned that whoever tried to harm the TD would themselves be wiped out. Earlier, Mr Naidu got farmers all along the padayatra route to speak about the problems they faced even as heavy deployment of over 3,000 police personnel remained on alert to foil any untoward incident in Palakurthy.
Along the route, in Nekkonda, scores of rival TD and TRS/TJAC supporters clashed at the government high school. Twenty two-wheelers were damaged, a bus was burnt while Nekkonda police station head constable V.K. Sambaiah and ex-MPTC M Ramu were injured. In Narsampet, stone-pelting by local TRS-TJAC supporters damaged 17 Palakurthy-bound vehicles injuring eight people.
Mr Naidu's convey was also attacked at Jangaon town by about 100 people wielding empty beer bottles and stones. Police had to resort to a lathi-charge. Three people were injured including a reporter. Five students who tried to throw slippers and water sachets at Mr Naidu were beaten up by TD activists before cops rescued them.

My word on T is final for TD, says Naidu

July 29: Caught between warring Telangana-Seemandhra leaders, the Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, said on Friday that his viewpoint on the Telangana issue reflected his party’s decision and was in no way influenced by leaders of other parties.
He also opposed the Centre’s draft Lokpal Bill, saying the Prime Minister should be brought under its purview. He added that the Bill was a sad reflection of the Centre’s lack of commitment to fight corruption.
“On the Telangana issue, my statement reflects the party decision. The stands taken by other leaders reflect the views of their regions and not those of their party. My party has made it clear at the Mahanadu that the Telangana issue has to be solved by the Centre,” he said. Mr Naidu tried to play down the row kicked up over the remarks of senior party politburo member, Mr Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, that the TD’s letter to the Pranab Mukherjee committee supporting Telangana in 2008 was time-barred.
The TD chief’s comments added to the confusion among Telangana TD Forum leaders, since they were harping on the TD report to the Pranab Mukherjee committee at every given opportunity and promising to fight for a separate Telangana, which Mr Naidu described as individual opinions and not those of the party. Mr Naidu said henceforth there was no need to keep on enquiring about the TD’s stand on Telangana and creating animosity among people. “We discussed the Telangana issue threadbare at the Mahanadu and the party has expressed its view categorically,” he added.
“People of both the regions are equal to me. I cannot differentiate between them,” he remarked.
Referring to the proposed Lokpal draft Bill prepared by the Centre, he said the Bill was toothless and clearly reflected that the Centre was not keen to eradicate corruption. “At a time when the Centre is hit by major scams, the proposed Bill is ineffective. The Centre seems to be more committed to protecting the corrupt,” he added.

Naidu Supports KCR Demand!

telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu does not mind going to any extent if he thinks it would help him gain political mileage. The latest issue, though a silly one, which Naidu has tried to capitalize was the renaming of Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam open-air auditorium after Rajiv Gandhi. His party leaders and cadres staged a demonstration near the auditorium on Thursday.
Now, he has got another issue to cash in on politically. With the Telangana Rashtra Samithi making a big fuss over the installation of statue of tribal leader Komuram Bheem on tank bund along with other statues, the TDP president sensed that there is a lot of merit in the demand and it would benefit the party a lot politically. So, Naidu immediately jumped to the support of the demand. He wrote a letter to Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Thursday demanding that the government immediately take measures to install the statue of Komuram Bheem on the tank bund as a tribute to the great tribal hero. Now, he cannot answer the query as to why he had not thought of the statue when he was in power.
But even before Naidu tried to gain some mileage out of the issue, the Department of Culture sent a proposal to the government for installation of Komuram Bheem statue on Tank bund at a cost of Rs 30 lakh. “Once the clearance is given, we will install the statue within 40 days,” the official said.
