Today, her name commands big budget films and she is considered to be the reigning actress not just in Tollywood, but also in the entire south. Right now, she has two big budget films – Rudrama Devi and Varna – both of which add up to a budget of Rs 100 crore. If one looks closely at both the films, barring Anushka there are no other commercial elements that they can boast of. So the entire onus of selling the films falls on Anushka alone. It is obvious that the makers are confident of her image and acting prowess for having invested Rs 50 crore in each of the films. Looking back, it was Arundhati that put Anushka in the big league as the film proved that a good and compelling storyline can mint money at the box office. So, today the producers are confident of investing huge money on Anushka. In the Telugu industry, the market for Ram Charan, NTR and Allu Arjun is within Rs 50 crore. Their films are wrapped up within that budget. Considering this, it is quite obvious that Anushka is now on par with these leading men. Only time will tell, if Jejamma as she is fondly referred to after Arundhati, will live up to the expectations!
