Seven more deaths due to the prevailing cold wave were reported from Adilabad, Visakhapatnam, Nellore and Vizianagaram districts on Tuesday, taking the toll to 15 in the course of a week. Two aged persons died in Mamidipalli village in Dandepalli mandal in Adilabad on Tuesday morning. The temperature had dropped to 3.5º C in the district two days ago, recording the lowest temperature in the state.
The cold wave sweeping the coastal districts claimed five lives on Tuesday in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Nellore. Meawhile, the Met department officials stated that there would be minor increase in night temperatures especially in the coastal districts. In the next 24 hours, the cold wave over Rayalaseema and Telang-ana regions will also subside. “The average temperature in the state is about 5º Celsius below normal,” said R.V. Subba Rao, assistant Met officer.
