HYDERABAD: Burglars gained entry into the Goshamahal police quarters and escaped with Rs 29,000 cash from three houses on Sunday evening.

Though local police refused to confirm the thefts, it is learnt Rs 2,500 cash was stolen from the house of constable Nagaraju, Rs 12,000 cash from a trainee SI's house and Rs 14,500 from a head constable's quarters. "These houses were not locked and the money was stolen from pockets of clothes hung in the front room," a source said.
Shahinayatgunj CI Guru Raghavendra said some miscreants who tried to enter the police quarters were chased away by residents on Sunday evening.
"There was no loss of property reported," the inspector said.
