Two crooks could deprive the Telugu film industry of Rs. 200 crores.  Imagine the enormity of the problem posed by the scourge of piracy.  Thankfully, because of an anti-pirate operation jointly led by AP Film Chamber and the AP Crime Investigation Department, Katthula Chaitanya of Hyderabad and Praneeth of Vijayawada are in the police net.  Secret sting operations to nab the pirates are on.

D Suresh Babu today said at a press briefing, "Rajendra Puvvadi of Chennai was nabbed in an operation conducted on June 8.  He used to stealthily capture movies through videos and make thousands of prints.  He had supplied over 4 crore DVD's in the market.  Chaitanya and Praneeth had tied up with a syndicate specialisation site and even flouted many illegal sites.  They had fake ids, Pay Pal accounts.  They pirated 1450 films, of which 161 are Telugu films, causing a loss of Rs. 200 cr. to the TFI.  If producers, distributors and exhibitors take precautions, piracy could be controlled.  I thank Udaya Bhaskar Reddy, the CID officer, on behalf of the film industry, for his cooperation in this mission."
