SBI officers has scheduled 2 days strike
The All India State Bank Officers Federation (AISBOF) has scheduled a two-day-strike across the country on 8th and 9th Nov in pursuance of certain demands, SBI said in an advertisement.
Meanwhile, customers of State Bank of India may have to face lack of services in 13,500 branches across the state.
Pratip Chaudhuri, the chairman of SBI said that the regional labour commissioner (Mumbai) has directed the officers union not to proceed with a strike and instead attend a conciliation meeting. If the union pursues the strike call, the bank would look at other legal options. He said the management was making efforts to extend skeleton services at branches/offices.
Officers at SBI’s five associate Banks may join the two-day strike. C Raj Kumar, president of SBI Associate Bank Officers Association said, "our main issue is about discrimination in treatment to associate banks in extending benefits."
SBI has urged all customers to complete their banking transactions well before 8th Nov to avoid inconvenience due to closure of the branches. As 7th and 10th Nov are public holidays in some states (Bakrid and Guru Nanak Jayanti), SBI has requested the customers to make use of ATMs, Internet Banking and Mobile Banking Services to meet their urgent need of cash in the days of holidays and strike.
