By any stretch of imagination 2010 would go down as the worst ever year in Tollywood. Out of the 114 straight films produced and released, 106 movies flopped at the box office. Put simply that is a 93% failure ratio. Six films - Darling, Brindaavanam, Ye Maaya Chesave, Betting Bangarraju, Adhurs, Vedam - generated decent returns. Their buyers did not lose money. Two films - Simha, and Maryada Ramanna - were genuine industry hits. This means buyers across all regions made good profits on these films. The sad part is the producers and distributors of the 106 films which include disasters like Puli, Khaleja, and Orange. Support from the fans and the efforts of the actors aside these movies did not generate enough business at the box office and have resulted in huge losses for both producers and buyers.
