Aware of the inconvenience caused to students and parents, the unanimous opinion that emerged at the full-fledged meeting of the Telangana Joint Action Committee Telangana Joint Action Committee on Friday was to take up the next phase of agitation for separate Telangana statehood only after the completion of major examinations. According to sources, the meeting also saw some Telangana leaders pushing for a more aggressive approach to force the Centre to take a decision on the separate statehood demand, but hurting the economic interests of businessmen from Seeman-dhra regions. However, no concrete suggestions came forth on how to implement the possible boycott of goods of businessmen from Seemandhra regions and hurting them economically.
The meeting discussed how to strengthen the agitation without affecting students examinations, bus yatra, Udyoga Garjana public meetings in Hyder-abad and other places. “It’s a fact that some have demanded hitting Andhra leaders opposing Telanga-na economically since they are stalling statehood with their money power. But no concrete suggestions came up. Boycott of goods was one option but how this can be implemented is yet to be decided,” a Telangana leader said.
Sources said that TRS MLA K.T. Rama Rao suggested taking up a concrete programme without affecting students and the examination schedule. TJAC convener M. Kodandaram presided over the meeting attended by TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, BJP leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao, leaders of New Democracy and other organisations.
